The Caterham Classic represents the essence of the Seven. Driving the Classic is pure back-to-basics motoring, evoking strong memories of the 1950’s era from which the Lotus 7 was originally born. The Classic exemplifies the ethos of ‘performance through lightweight’ and making the driver feel absolutely connected to the road. This is the only model that has been specifically designed with-out any engine/transmission installation parts included for customers planning a custom engine installation. For customers interested in a complete kit we recommend the Roadsport or Superlight models.
The Car
The Classic has been specifically designed for customers interested in doing their own "custom" engine installation. Caterham Cars has developed the US model range to utilize the Ford Duratec line of engines, and we strongly recommend the factory engine installation packages included with the other US models. The Classic is for those more adventurous owners with significant mechanical ability who are interested in developing their own engine installation.
The package comes complete with everything except the engine and transmission installation parts. Please be aware that we can only provide technical assistance and spare parts for Caterham Cars designed engine packages.
If you are considering your own engine installation we will happily answer any questions related to the Caterham supplied parts but we will not be able to help with parts sourced or fabricated separately.
